Event Details

Retired coal-fired Liddell Power Station helped to keep the lights on across NSW and sustained businesses for more than half a century until closure in April last year. To commemorate this pivotal moment, the LiddellWORKS project was launched—a collaborative effort between Arts Upper Hunter and AGL, with additional funding from the NSW Government. This initiative invited artists to capture and express the significance of the station’s decommissioning through their art. Sixteen artists participated in residencies that inspired them to creatively respond to the decommissioning process of the Liddell Power Station. Their works encompass a wide array of art forms, including sound installation, pottery, virtual reality, portraiture, large-scale photography, sculpture, blacksmithing, and wearable art. The community will have the opportunity to experience the culmination of this unique arts program at two exhibitions, hosted at the Muswellbrook Regional Arts Centre and Singleton Arts and Cultural Centre.
