Hunter Drama is set to launch its 2026 season with a burst of pop-fuelled sparkle as Once Upon A One More Time takes over the Playhouse at Civic Theatre Newcastle. Powered by the iconic hits of Britney Spears, this bold jukebox musical reimagines the fairy tales we thought we knew and asks what really happens after "happily ever after."
When Cinderella, Snow White and their fellow princesses meet for book club, an unexpected intervention flips their storybooks upside down. What follows is a witty, empowering and joy-filled journey about identity, independence and choosing your own destiny, all soundtracked by some of the biggest pop anthems of a generation.
Director Luke Baker says he was instantly drawn to the production, thanks to the extraordinary calibre of Hunter Drama's senior students. With 22 musical numbers and up to 30 Britney hits woven throughout, the show promises the scale and energy of a concert combined with the polish of a professional theatrical production.
