Event Details

Erin Sweetman joins the Camerata in the 'Rach-Pag' - one of the epics of the piano repertoire. Numerous composers have made sets of variations on Paganini's original melody, including Paganini himself, but none are more popular than Rachmaninoff's brilliant work, which includes one of the greatest tunes of all time in the 18th Variation. The colour of Eastern European music continues in Kilar's marvellous 'Orawa', an evocation of folk fiddlers on the Polish mountains. Also on the program, arrangements by our Principal Violist, Paul Groh, of delightful works by the German Baroque composer, Johann Groh, and a new work by Artistic Director, David Banney. This concert is the finale concert for Newcastle Music Festival.
